I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for SCAMP sailboats. They just make people smile and they’re fun to sail.

They are kind of funny looking, but so am I. There were way more pictures submitted than would fit in the article.
Click here to read all about my boat crush over at 48 North Magazine (that link is the to HTML article). I think the flipbook article looks nicer.
Isn’t it a pleasant disease/obsession?
Once you build one it is very difficult to stop.
I look forward to seeing you in your Scamp one of these days!
All the best, Scott
SF Pelicans are also 12 footers. And they have a jib, so they go better to windward. And they are about one-third the cost of a Scamp.
They are very cute, and compellingly seaworthy. I plan to build in some flotation/storage to my Penobscot 14, but that wont’ make it a dry boat. Are you going to get one?
Make it a 10′ model and I’m in.
I believe the original Scamp design was closer to 10 feet. You might be able to get those plans…
All the best, Scott
Scamp is a great sailing boat. I’ve been around a few of them and they move like a boat with a longer water line. It’s basically a scaled up version of the Welsford Sherpa. Im fairly partial to his Walkabout design, myself.
You’ve summed it up nicely Bruce. I’m lucky to have a couple of boats in my yard, but if I had to choose just one it would be a Scamp.
That says a lot!
